What is Hatha Yoga?

The Yoga Style at Pollenca Retreats

Hatha Yoga is practised with influences from Eric Schiffman and Shandor Remete. This is a routine based yoga for people whose ambition is focused more on developing presence.

As Howard says: “I am a craniosacral therapist, teacher of massage and bodywork and writer. I have been casually practicing yoga for decades as part of a well balanced life. I have practiced with some truly fantastic teachers. I have been teaching a class for friends and their friends for the last ten years. It’s one of those classes that people either love or can’t be bothered with. I love it. It’s a sequence put together from a bodyworker’s perspective to work the entire body in an hour without ambition and without risk.:

The difference between what we do and what we are capable of doing would suffice to solve most of the world’s problems.

Hatha yoga is a branch of yoga that emphasises physical exercises to master the body along with mind as well as exercises to withdraw it from external objects. The word haṭha means “force” in Sanskrit, and may have this association because the early Indians believed that its practice was challenging and “forced its results to happen” on the yogi. The term “Hatha yoga” connotes a system of supplementary physical techniques within the broader concept of Yoga.
