The project embraces the creation of the new Hub and Forum, in association with Initiatives of Change International, in a project that is currently establishing links with the UN, certain EU bodies and philanthropic areas of industry to promote Trust and Integrity and many of the principles the new centre represents.

Project Linkage

Initiatives of Change International

For the last five years Mark Ubsdell has been working with the international organisation; Initiatives of Change (IofC) in London (formerly Moral Re-Armament and The Oxford Group). IofC are a world-wide movement of people of diverse cultures and backgrounds who are committed to the transformation of society through changes in human motives and behaviour, starting with their own. The focus is on Trust building, sustainable living and ethical leadership.

Forum & Hub featuring Social Change

From Mark’s association with this organisation, a new project emerged – a new forum, hub and channel in the mould of T.E.D. featuring talks and a dedicated channel, with the focus on new initiatives in Business ethics, social and cultural change in society working with business and industry leaders. The project is to link with EU and UN departments and philanthropic industries and a network of groups, NGOs and organisations to create a central database and channel of short-form film reports and live-talks which will reflect many of the themes raised by both IofC and the new centre.

E.S.A.C. Forum & Hub

E.S.C. is being developed to establish a global community, welcoming people from every discipline and culture who seek a deeper understanding of the world of business, sustainability, education initiatives and political and social change. The project is conceived on the basis of a passionate belief in the power of ideas to change attitudes, lives and, ultimately, the world. On www.ESC.com and the proposed web-channel: www.change-television.com the intention is to build a clearing-house of free knowledge from the investigating-film producers, contributions from the world’s most inspired thinkers, user-generated content (UGC) — and to build a community of curious members of the public to engage with ideas and each other, both online and at E.S.C. and E.S.C. Live events around the world.

The intention is to support and supply the forum and Hub by regular conferences and ESC ‘Talks’ which will in turn initiate projects sparked by an E.S.C. Prize, from the proposed global E.S.C. community to a proposed E.S.C. lesson series —driven by this goal: “How can we spread ideas that will inspire change and ethically driven action?”

S.E.C. Talks on the web would also supported by partnerships with carefully selected organisations; their ads on the videos and website support making S.E.C. Talks available to the world for free in many languages and on many platforms. We would be very selective in the organisations we partner with. Other projects and initiatives may be supported by foundation funding and individual donors.
SEC Live events tie in to talks around the world. These would then be filmed and screened on the channel.

From Mark’s association with this organisation, a new project emerged – a new forum, hub and channel in the mould of T.E.D. featuring talks and a dedicated channel, with the focus on new initiatives in Business ethics, social and cultural change in society working with business and industry leaders. E.S.C. can be structured initially as a non-profit/ or Social Enterprise initiative devoted to the airing of ideas around the themes of Sustainability, Accountability and Change, usually in the form of short, powerful films and talks (5-20 minutes or less). It is intended to expand on the existing ‘IofC’ conference talks, where Business ideas, Education and Sustainability themes are discussed and converge, and will cover wider issues relating to political and cultural change — from science, to business, to global issues.

Meanwhile, independently run E.S.C. Live events would help share the ideas and themes generated by the platform and channel in communities around the world.
